In 2012, there are still a lot of homes that don’t have a smoke alarm, it’s hard to believe since they are so affordable nowadays.

The security and piece of mind they provide is priceless.

It can not only save your life, or the lives of your loved ones, but it can also alarm you before a real fire spreads and destroys your home and home business.

Smoke alarms come in all kinds of shapes and designs, so they can blend right in and they don’t take much space. You can have electric ones, battery operated ones and hybrid ones. No matter which one you choose, at least get one, it’s worth it.

One you do get a smoke alarm, make sure you test it regularly and replace the batteries when necessary.

A common problem people have with them is false alarms while they cook, well a simple trick is to put a shower cap or plastic bag around the alarm while you’re cooking and that will keep it from going off for no reason, just make sure you remember to remove the bag or cap once you’re done!
