5 things you need to get to work from home.

If you run your own business from your home and don’t have an office, like more and more people do every day, then here are five tips to make you look more professional to your clients and yourself.
Whether it be answering to customers over the phone or in person, you don’t want or need them to know that you are working from home, nor would you want them to necessarily visit your home or know where you live.
For obvious reasons, people know that Deuce Group is a home based business, and that is the point for this blog, but I don’t normally have customers come to my home, and some will never know that I don’t have an office.
Here are the five tips:
-
Get the hardware you need: Depending what kind of home business you are running you made need different tools, but the basics for most of them is a fast and reliable computer, a multifunction machine (fax, printer, copier, scanner all in one), and a corded phone, sure a wireless one could work also, but the wired phone usually has better quality and also you won’t have to worry about interference on it or the battery dying.
-
Get the software you need: Again there will be software specific for your business that you will need, you will want to make sure to have access to all the software that is expected out of your type of business, last thing you will want is telling a customer you can’t do something because you don’t have that type of software. Of course if the software is too expensive to justify it’s purchase, you can always hire outside help for projects needing it.
-
Get the services you need: Fast and Reliable Internet and Phone Line are a given, but it’s up to you to determine if you will need an extra phone line to have a separate number for business calls, and if you don’t do this, will you answer your business calls with a personal greeting or your personal calls with a business greeting?
-
Get the space you need: Some people can run their businesses from their kitchen table using a laptop, some even from their pool side, although this may work for certain types of businesses, you may want to have a dedicated space for a home office. If you have kids and pets, it’s probably best to have this place out of reach from them.
-
Get the help you need: The great thing about the Internet, is that help is always at your finger tips, whether it be from your local government programs for people working from home, or freelancers that will sell you their services or to virtual assistants that can do all the menial work for you, there is always people out there to help, mostly with a price associated to it, but not always.
Of course there could be other things you need, but 99% of them will fall into one of these categories, so go through them and you will definitely have a better idea if you are ready to start working from home, or if you already do what you are missing.
